The Company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is based on a synergy between sustainability in three aspects; humanity, environment, and profit. It is believed that these would create long-term business sustainability for the Company.
The positive impact of CSR on humanity and the environment is manifested in the Company’s activities carried out in the spirit of LEGACY (Life, Environment, Generations and Community). Through this campaign, the Company hopes that a series of program can be carried out effectively and well-targeted. The CSR activities organized by the Company are a form of support for the development of the four main pillars, namely Environment; Manpower, Occupational Health and Safety; Community; and Customers.
We have embedded the United Nation Sustainability Development Goals (UN SDG) no. 3, 8, 13 and 14 in our four pillars, “LEGACY”, and in our mission statement, “To optimize stakeholders’ interests by satisfying the needs of customers in a safe, efficient, and competitive manner through professional services, quality vessels, and strong commitment to safety, security, and environmental protection” since inception.
LEGACY stands for Life, Environment, Generations and Community. Under LEGACY, it allows us to reevaluate about the footprints we leave on this world while conducting business. We believe that being in the forefront of the movement allows for guidance of future progress.
Good Health and Wellbeing of staffs and crews has been our centre of attention. We believe that a safe and supportive environmental encourages our staffs to grow to their maximum potential which could directly influence their families and communities. In order to achieve these, below are some of our implemented strategy:
Progress and future plans
While we continuously aim to improve and ensure that all our employees are treated fairly in a safe and healthy working environment, our current retention rate is beyond commendable. We have introduced plenty of trainings each year, ranging from hard skills such as first aid training, basic sea survival skills, to soft skills such as psychological and health talks.
Progressing towards 2021, we aim to further anchor human rights practices in our governance system and continue to minimize any identified gaps to ensure an optimal employee satisfaction.
As a testament of our strong commitment to environmental protection, we are certified for ISO 14001:2015 as well as HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) program which includes segregation of waste into recyclables and non-recyclables and also keep track of our usage of such waste such as paper, plastics, and other materials and reduce waste by reusing paper and minimizing printing and copying.
Progress and future plans
As citizens of the ocean, we have consistently considered the importance of life below water, as referred to in the UN SDG No. 14. Since inception, we only operate vessels with double hull to prevent oil spills. As such, we have zero spills since operation. We have also maintained our vessels and conduct regular inspections as a precautionary action and such initiative has resulted in us having zero incident since inception.
We have dedicated a specific amount of budget for Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) installations to our vessels starting from 2020-2024. Our goal is to achieve 100% of our vessels installed with the BWTS by the end of 2024.
To tackle the issue of climate change, the chartering department worked to ensure alignment between the charterer and our compliance to IMO 2020. We believe that decarbonising the only way going forward, and as such we consistently look for viable technical retrofitting.
We believe in the importance of nurturing future generations as they are the future leaders of the world. We have initiated various programs to educate and inspire our future generation to develop a greater sense of ownership in their surrounding environment.
We donated books and toys, studied together with children in fishing village’s community house and made activities related to coral day as a form to instill teachings about the ocean and the relationship between humans and the environment from an early age.
Progress and future plans
We continuously seek for future opportunities to establish ourselves as the influential player in providing early education to our younger generations.
The Company organizes various events to promote social and community development. For instance, the Company collaborates with Indonesian Red Cross to organize blood donation event at least twice a year.
Operating in Indonesia, we also consult with the local communities to support the economic development of local workers and local communities. For instance, we cooperate with local academies to recruit professional staff to strengthen our office as well as vessel operations wherever possible. As of now, 98% of our office staff are nationals and locals.
Progress and future plans
As our business operation is based in Jakarta, we are open for collaboration with Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Indonesia. This is one of our initiative to promote a healthy community and to support our business activities.
During this pandemic, blood donation activities were heavily affected and has led to scarcity of blood supply. The Large-Scale Social Restrictions and the fear of virus spreading has caused the number of donors to drop dramatically. To support the Indonesian Red Cross, the Company has conducted a blood donation in the fourth quarter.
